Log Programs not in the Lists - Creates a log entry for all programs that are not on any of the lists or were not present when the Priority Master program started.

Log Failed Set Priority - Creates a log entry only one time per process. There are no further attempts to reset the process priority.

View Log File - starts a Notepad.exe with the log contents. You can search and save the log contents using the notepad's functions.

    2) Optional automatic program termination for unListed RealTime programs and any UnListed programs. You should always have the Auto Terminate UnListed RT programs turned ON. Priority Master 2006 Version 6.0 Updates

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0.6 This is a very important update required for all systems. This permanently fixes the shutdown problem and allows all systems to run Priority Master 2008 in RealTime mode. Uncheck the Set Priority Master Priority to High on the Program Overview dialog.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0.5 This fixes a problem in the Foreground Exclusion List when adding a program in which the Foreground Priority Boost priority is incorrect.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0.4 This fixes a problem in the Hot List in running programs from the dialog. You only need this update if you use the Hot List to start a list of prioritized programs at system boot time. The Hot List programs can be run at any time and it checks to see if the program is already running and does not run a second copy.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0.3 This includes the shutdown fix and is integrated onto the Program Overview dialog. Just select the checkbox for the priority of Priority Master to be High. This option remains persistent from run to run and reboot. The Manual Priority Override->Program Details has a problem when displaying the program window titles and this is fixed. The warning messages you get when in Full Time DEFENDER Mode and you try to access the Advanced User options (i.e. Automatically Prioritized Programs) were modified to tell the user how to turn of The Full Time DEFENDER to be able to use the Advanced user option. The main windows was modified to say that free updates are available here. The help-about dialog was modified. The exe was built for several high speed and stack usage options to make the program run faster. Some additional minor fixes were also added.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0.2+ Well, it is not my fault and I am innocent! That's right! Do not take this upgrade unless you have a problem in which your machine freezes when you try to shutdown. This only happens on Windows XP Home Edition with the latest automatic updates. May happen on other systems, but it has not been reported. There is nothing wrong with the code in Priority Master 2008. This was very difficult to find and fix. The solution, unbelievably was to decrease the base priority of Priority Master 2008 from RealTime to High. Also, the exit processing was made to instantly exit. Demo users may have to delete their Primast6.ini file so that it can be recreated. This is a temporary fix and an option to run Priority Master in RealTime or High may be added. Alternatively, you could roll back the latest MS update<g>. BTW, the automatic overload protection of a RealTime CPU hog will not work on this version because the priority of Priority Master 2008 is too low to stop it. Just stop Priority Master 2008 from running and put these files in the install directory on top and restart Priority Master 2008.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0.2 The System Menu was reworked to not appear when the the program starts in Full Time DEFENDER mode. Also, checking and unchecking the button on the dialog now silently registers the system menu when Full Time DEFENDER is switched OFF and removes the system menus when when Full Time DEFENDER is Activated.  In Full Time DEFENDER mode, the can still use the Sys Menu ToolBar icon to activate the system menus. Also, the Hot List programs are not started when Full Time DEFENDER mode is activate when Priority Master 2008 starts. There is problem only in the Hot List for the working directory when added from the Manual Priority Override dialog that has been corrected. Fixed a minor problem in the Window priority in title update thread. Fixed another bug in which the Hot List Toolbar icon did not bring up the dialog. It is still accessible in the Manual Priority Override dialog.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0.1 The System menu had 2005 instead of 2008 - otherwise they are identical. The install process has been streamlined removing the readme window, automatically going to the last page and all defaults are already set. Just hit "OK" install. Invalid installations detection was modified.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 6.0 New features: 1)Full Time DEFENDER - this is the default install. It works like the standard DEFENDER in that it puts programs in the Idle priority Class automatically. There is two new system tray icons that illustrate when it is running. It also shows when the Foreground Priority Boost is on. 2) Selectable priority scanning levels - The default is scan programs on the Task Bar only. Now you can include scans for the invisible window application or do all processes in the system. This has been added to all of the dialogs where the invisible windows was an option. 3) A Program Overview has been added that shows the features and functions that are common, priority scanning levels, Basic and Advanced User options. Note that there is near instantaneous response when switching from the Full Time DEFENDER to the Advanced that uses the priority in the Automatically Prioritized Programs and any Manual Priority Overrides. All windows titles are also near instantly updated to show their previous priority settings. This is unbelievable powerful to witness! Also, a delay has been added to the Run List Dialog to allow a delay between starting the applications like the Hot List dialog.

Bug Fixes:

1) The Hot List and Run List fail when using slow starting programs and programs with extended program options. This is due to the overlapped design that starts multiple programs simultaneously with a failure in parameter passing. For example, when buying rare proof coins, I want to look at the book values for each denomination. I want to automatically start a single browser that that shows the price of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and half dollars using Netscape. What Version 5.1.4 gives you is the same coin repeated.
2) The Hot List does not enable the cancel button when the list is empty. This is a minor bug, since the "X" works and is corrected.
3) After a fresh install, the registration dialog was behind the generated explorer windows. It is now automatically in the foreground in system modal.
4) The system menu for Priority Master was still there after the program exited. It is now removed from the system menus at exit time.

Also, there was an embellishment of the text in the toolbar tray icons and error messages. The System Menu toolbar was converted to a dialog procedure to get the skin color. New functions were added to the Online help and on the dialog.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 5.1.4 - Added a new option to the Automatically Prioritized Programs, Setup and Status dialog ("A" on the toolbar) to disable the splash screens. This is a checkbox in the Options groupbox with the title "Disable splash screen". Please note that there are 8 stunning semi-transparent screens that only last a few seconds and only at program startup time. However, if you need to disable them for your personal preference just check the box.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 5.1.3 - Fixed a problem with running out of window handles. This is an important update to get.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 5.1.2 - Fixed a problem in which the new splash screen interfered with the registration screen at install time.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 5.1.1 - Added 8 new asynchronous colorful semi-transparent splash screens. Fixed bug in window priority update logic and improved priority scans to reduce "flashing" of the priority in the main window title.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 5.1 - New features added:

mainwindow51.jpg (24879 bytes)

1) Added New Program Detection and Optional Termination as a new toolbar item. Just as it says, you can find all of those sneaky programs that are running and robbing your machine of all of it's power! You can track all processes or just processes that display on the task list. This will display the path, icon and you can terminate the current task only, add the name to the list of programs to be terminated any time that they try to run or ignore and continue. Screen shots:

newprogdetect.jpg (118263 bytes) newprogfound.jpg (46344 bytes)

2) Added Automatically Terminated Programs list as a new toolbar item. Just as it says, add the program name to the list and it will be terminated any time that it tries to run. It allows you superior performance and security. You can do things like prevent your 8 year old son from running certain programs! Unless the person knows that Priority Master is preventing the program running, it will be very difficult to determine why the program will not run. This also good to prevent spyware and adware programs from running on your machine. This has been integrated exactly like the existing automatically prioritized programs dialogs. Screen shots:

autoterminatelist.jpg (35369 bytes)  addautoterminatelist.jpg (127874 bytes)

viewautoterminatelist.jpg (83944 bytes)

Also added support for Firefox as a web browser when using the web-site from the main window. A spin button for a delay in seconds was added to the Hot List to allow some time between the applications starting. Online Help was added for the new features and for the Normal priority automatically prioritized list. The version number was added to the system tray icon and the new toolbar items were added to the system tray menu. The first time that you selected the Favorites, the dialog would flash and this problem has been resolved. Additional minor cleanup items were also added.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 5.0.1 - Fixed start-Program links in the install program.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 5.0 - Added new Sys Menu to the toolbar. This allows the user to dynamically add or remove the Priority Master 2005 system menus. Added a brand new install program. The new version requires that previous releases be removed using the system Add/Remove Programs.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.1.2 - Fixed a problem in which a new user installs Priority Master 2004 onto a system that has Priority Master III installed (which is not supported and needs to be removed before installing Priority Master 2004). The error message ""Could not initialize ActiveSkin control. Please make sure it is installed properly." is generated because the skin control is not initialized. This is because the .inf file can not distinguish between Priority Master III and Priority Master 2004 when it is represented as the 8.3 filename - "Priori~1". To prevent this from happening and get the new user operational immediately, the main executable (primast4.exe) was modified to detect the failure in the skin control initialization and attempt recovery by registering the actskin4.ocx internally. A simple dialog will be generated that requires an OK only the first time that Priority Master 2004 is run. If you are already running 4.1.1, then you do not need this update since your Active X skin control is already working.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.1.1 - Fixed a rare problem in which the widow title would flash when the priority in window title option is selected. The window update logic and priority jack hammer was bouncing as the application attempted to reset the base priority and Priority Master was displaying the priority in the window title. Doubled the performance of the Show Invisible Windows logic as it uses only 1/2 of the CPU time. Fixed a problem in the installation script in which the active skin was not initialized when installing to a drive letter beyond the C drive (this is only available in the full retail version as it is part of the install program).

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.1.0 - Added a new COM DLL named PriorityMenuExt.dll that integrates the Priority Master 2004 set priority permanently feature directly into the explorer and desktop. The five new menu options allow the user to enter the .exe, .com, .bat and .scr files directly into one of the four priority classes and to manage the priority lists. Sample picture:

PM4_MENU_DESKTOP.jpg (32739 bytes)

PM4_MENU_EXPLORER.jpg (56349 bytes)

Also, fixed a problem in which the name of the executable name actually changes from run to run! No kidding! For example, Pest Patrol would start using a full path and sometimes it would have the 8.3 version of the name! This was fixed to use both naming formats for all automatically prioritized program names.

The actual retail package automatically registers the PriorityMenuExt.Dll and removes it when uninstalled using the standard Add/Remove Programs. Also, the default is now set to automatically minimize the program and run the (empty) Hot List at system boot time for the new user. Subsequent reboots will also automatically minimize Priority Master 2004. Finally, the uninstall program was modified to remove components that remained in the previous release.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.0.5 - 1) Fixed a problem in which the registration code is not saved when you don't exit the program before a shutdown after the first time you install. Additionally, all options other than the automatically prioritized programs are automatically written to the disk as soon as you make any change. 2) The "Show Invisible Windows" option was automatically turned ON (checked) on a restart to insure any that non-windowed processes would be automatically prioritized. This has been changed using the thinking that relatively few people will be using the non-windowed processes and it results in less overhead.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.0.4 - 1) Fixed a problem in which the displayed priority may not be correct when the program was in the automatically prioritized lists with the "Show Invisible Windows" and display priority in title options are selected..

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.0.3 - 1) Fixed a problem in which a previously stored system process would not be automatically prioritized after a fresh boot without invoking the GUI.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.0.2 - 1) Fixed a problem in the exit logic that did not remove the priority in the window titles at exit time. 2) Added a Select All button to the Run List 3) Only 256 processes were tracked and increased the limit to 2,256 processes. 4) Significantly reduced the system overhead when the "Show Invisible Windows" option is selected. The Priority Jack Hammer was automatically being applied to invisible windows and system processes which added about 7% of the CPU time on the slower machines (around 1GHz). The new logic automatically disables the Priority Jack Hammer for the invisible windows and system processes when minimized to the system tray. The Priority Jack Hammer is automatically engaged any time that any one of the dialogs is visible on the desktop and the "Show Invisible Windows" option is selected. This is a super-efficient design and uses almost 0% CPU time!

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.0.1 - 1) Fixed a possible problem in the scroll up/ scroll down for the Automatically Prioritized Lists when the Show Invisible Windows option is selected. When you scroll all of the way to the bottom and then back to the top and then select a program. It may not be the correct program listed in the confirmation dialog. A Refresh is required to get the correct program name. All of the lists were reworked to have independent access to the process data. 2) Modified the installation program so that the buttons fit on the screen when using large fonts with 1024X768 resolution. 3) Modified several of the dialogs to insure that all of the text is present when using large fonts.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Version 4.0 - Priority Master 2004  - Fixed the following  problems: 1) The Scroll Up/Scroll Down in the Favorites and Normal when there were more than 11 entries. This now includes the system processes and is instantaneous on all dialogs with the Show Invisible Windows checkbox 10) The Add/Remove programs was modified to remove the Priority Master 2004 from the Start->Programs popup at uninstall time.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added full support for non-windowed processes for all of the Automatically Prioritized Lists, Manual Override and the DEFENDER. This includes the system level processes and any nonwindowed processes started by windowed processes. This can be turned ON or OFF using the Show Invisible Windows option on the various dialogs.

Example of the Program Details showing system processes:

dyn_chg_details_all.jpg (66491 bytes)

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added full support for the Foreground Exclude List. Simply enter your programs that are CPU hogs into the list and they will not get the Foreground Boost when the option is turned ON or Activated. bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added a "Normal" Class to the Automatically Prioritized Programs. Programs that set their priority to High or Idle can now be forced to the Normal Class when in the background. This is fully integrated so now there is full coverage for all of the priority Classes.

Auto_4_classes.jpg (54275 bytes)

Version 3.3.2.1 - Fixed a problem in which the wrong program in the Manual Override and Program Details was obtained for the Add to Hot, Add to Run, End or Modify buttons.Fixed a problem in which selecting a program that had exited did not correctly refresh the dialog for Manual Override buttons.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added message boxes if warning messages are ON to display the detailed information for the Add to Hot, Add to Run and End buttons on the Manual Override dialog.

Version 3.3.2 - New 100% seamless design! You can turn off the priority in the window title and get status reporting on the foreground being ON or OFF in the system tray status icon. Completely transparent, "priority-less" prioritization methodology! What's new? Fixed yet another problem in which handles were leaking once every 10 seconds only when the CD/DVD burner software is running. There are no known handles leaking anywhere in the product at this time. Fixed the Set Foreground dialog to show the actual priority in the text fields.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added the color red to the toolbar to get the red, white and blue look to show patriotism for the USA.

toolbar_rwb.jpg (20047 bytes)

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added 4 new system tray icon states to indicate that the state of the foreground priority boost. The old system status:

   sys_tray_1.jpg (888 bytes)   sys_tray_2.jpg (847 bytes)   sys_tray_3.jpg (843 bytes)    sys_tray_4.jpg (879 bytes)

Now has a blue border if the foreground priority boost is Activated (turned ON) as follows:

  sys_tray_1_F.jpg (874 bytes)   sys_tray_2_F.jpg (787 bytes)    sys_tray_3_F.jpg (845 bytes)    sys_tray_4_F.jpg (839 bytes)

These were all reworked to use a custom internal messages that would not be intercepted by Window Blinds.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added fix for window handles leaking once every 10 seconds.

Version 3.3 - Converted to MFC/ActiveX SKINS. This require a complete package install. It installs on top of the existing version and all current options are saved. Registered users will receive this through direct contact in an email attachment.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added MFC/ActiveX Skins support for 14 programs skins. Select any skin you like and it will be remembered anytime the program runs. A Default Skin is provided to remove the skinning.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added Show Invisible Windows to the DEFENDER and a complete overhaul of the function to allow the Restore to work regardless of the initial save state (Invisible windows ON or OFF).

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added complete modeless functionality. In previous versions, you had to close all dialogs to exit. Now you can exit the program  with any number of dialogs displaying. The toolbar allows multiple dialogs to be independently operated.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Priority does not overwrite the window title.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added Set Foreground Priority to the system icon tray menu and toolbar.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added more flexibility to the Manual Override buttons for modify, end, add tot hot list, add to Run list to automatically reacquire the program if the dialog has been up for a while and one or more of the programs lower in the displayed list has exited or new programs have started.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added more power to the "End" on the Manual Override.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added a transparent background icon so that you can select it using the icon properties Change Icon.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added numerous other minor fixes.

Version 3.2.1 - Fixed a problem in the Class and Level did not appear correctly in the DEFENDER Mode 1 Snapshot list for the Path View. Modified the Sort to work with the new Class/Level scheme.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added Class and Level to the Window view of the DEFENDER Mode 1 Snapshot List view and modified the Sort to work with the new Class/Level scheme.

Version 3.2 - Fixed a problem in which the auto-refresh on an End from the Manual Override did not show the program exiting. The fix gives a more generous time to allow the program to exit.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added new shortcut in the StartUp folder on the install and removal on uninstall.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Updated Online Help components for new functions added in the version 3.1.X updates.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added new "End" buttons to soft terminate the process for the Manual Override dialog and the associated Program Details dialog. This allows clear identification of the visible and invisible window process by icon, window title or process disk location to terminate the process and has automatic refresh. Sure beats the Task Manager for removing unwanted processes from your system!. Note: to kill all programs at once, use DEFENDER Mode 3.

Version 3.1.5 - Fixed a problem in which the close from the Task Bar icon did not exit.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added new Hot List and Run List option from the system tray menu.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added a new system tray icon feature to display the Class Analysis color dynamically. Each color represents the number of NOMINAL classes currently in use and correspond to the dialog background colors as follows:

        Icon                                 Multitasking Rating

sys_tray_1.jpg (888 bytes) - Zero or One           Below Average

        sys_tray_2.jpg (847 bytes) - Two                         Average

        sys_tray_3.jpg (843 bytes) - Three                      Above Average

        sys_tray_4.jpg (879 bytes) - Four                        Genius!

This process to class analysis is done in a highly efficient manner and there is an option to turn off the system tray class analysis reporting. This new option is located on the Manual Override dialog, Reset User Options, System Tray Status Colors. Note that the green or Four status represents the maximum efficiency that your machine can achieve. So, show off your brains and get into the "green"!

Version 3.1.4 - Fixed a problem in which the "Start on system tray and run Hot List"  with an empty Hot List caused an internal check that saw that the list was empty and inadvertently reset the option. This caused the main window to appear at boot time when the Hot List was empty after the second reboot. The fix removes the main window from the desktop and starts on the system tray when there are no entries in the Hot List.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added a new "Include Invisible Windows" to the DEFENDER dialog. This allows you to have only the programs on the Task Bar or all of the programs including the invisible windows apply to the Modes 1 and 3. This also updates the number of programs running fields in the dialog to visually verify the that the change occurred.

Version 3.1.3 - bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added a new "Hide-to-Sys-Tray" option on the main window.  In one case, the system menu "x" on the main window for XP closed the application. It is supposed to remove the Task Bar icon and stay on the system tray.

Version 3.1.2 - bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added a new "Start on system tray and run Hot List" check box onto the main Automatically Prioritized Programs and Manual Override dialogs. This eliminates the Task Bar icon at system boot time. It OK if there is nothing in the Hot List.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Improved the performance of the primary window title update and set foreground logic by 3 to 5 times. This results in less overhead while running. Currently this is about 1 to 3% of the CPU on an AMD 1.2 Duron.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Reworked the install/uninstall to remove all of the files using the add/delete programs function.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes)Bug fix for not allowing multiple copies to execute when the first copy is on the system tray.

Version 3.1.1 - bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added the "Priority Jack Hammer". This pounds the priority that the user sets to defeat those stubborn programs that set their own priority. This includes any programs that are acquired into the 3 automatically prioritized lists and any dynamic priority changes! When you set the priority, you get that priority! This incredible enhancement is the very first of it's kind. An example is Winamp. You set the priority to High or add it to the Favorites. After the first song plays, it returns to Normal. Now it will stay High. Even if you try to change the priority with the Task Manager, it will be reset to the priority that you set with Priority Master III instantly! Absolute power and control!

Version 3.1 - Added 10 second auto-recovery for RealTime programs so that you can not freeze or lock up the machine. Added all options descriptions to the Online Help. Modified the content on the dialogs for better descriptions. Added support for EZ Creator 5 and Nero 5 to be automatically recognized.

Version 3.06 - READY FOR PRIME TIME! Bug fixes: 1)The system menu "X" now hides the icon from the Task Bar. 2) Removes the system tray icon on exit (did fail some times before). 3) Fixed auto/manual pop up option settings when auto only was specified. 4) You can now delete the 4 CD/DVD programs that are included if you do not want them. New features:

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added Browse button to add programs not currently running into the 3 automatically prioritized lists (CD/DVD, Favorites, Virus etc).

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added Set Foreground button and Activate to the Add Virus/Pest/Defrag dialog.

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added Show invisible windows to show/hide invisible windows on the Manual Override & Program details, and the 3 automatically prioritized lists (CD/DVD, Favorites, Virus etc).

bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added  Request foreground immediately button on the Manual Override Modify for Set Class and Level dialog. This allows you change priority and bring the program into the foreground with a single button click or select OK and bring the program into the foreground without changing the priority.

Version 3.05 - Fixes a problem in the Hot List Delete entry when there is only one entry in the list. Also, Changed the Pop Up on Startup option for the Automatically Prioritized Program and the Manual Override dialogs to automatically start one or the other or neither when the program loads for the first time.

Version 3.04 - bluedot.gif (923 bytes) Added a system tray icon support. Normally, this would not be a "bug". However, using Priority Master III allows you to run so many programs that the Task Bar icons get nested 5 deep or more. This makes locating the program difficult when you want to change the priority or add programs into the automatically prioritized lists. Also, the main window and generated windows that are used when starting program in from the Hot List at system boot boot time have been made invisible. This gives a better "stealth" look at system boot time.

Version 3.03 - Starting the web site from main window, About dialog or the Priority Graphic Overview the second time in a row causes a trap due to an invalid pointer. Also, the generated web browser was started in the background and this has been changed to start in the foreground. No one has reported this problem, it was discovered in post release testing.

Version 3.02 - Starting a CD/DVD Burner program results in the current Foreground priority instead of RealTime 24. On fast machines, a timing problem exist between the foreground priority logic, the automatically prioritized programs for the CD/DVD burner programs logic and the window title priority update logic. This only appears to occur after the  CD/DVD Burner program is started and exited 3 or more times and the Priority Master III program is active and disk caching is active. Restarting Priority Master III also solves the timing problem. If you start a CD/DVD Burner program and the priority in the main window title is not RealTime 24, then download and apply this update. No one has reported this problem, it was discovered in post release testing.

Version 3.01 - Under unspecified conditions, the primast3.exe would not fully exit. The program would go away, however, it still appeared in the Task List and has to be manually removed using the End Process. The problem could not be duplicated in-house and the customer has verified the fix. Download this update only if you experience the problem of the primast3.exe not fully exiting the system when you close the Priority Master III application.

Version 3.00 - Released Sept. 18,2002 This version automatically acquires programs and set the priority of the foreground application. This is a major step over all previous releases.
